Indy 500 1973. Al Unser, Sr. won for the second consecutive year, dominating most of the race. It turned out to be a race that many would end up wishing they could forget.

Three competitors – two drivers and one pit crew member – were killed during the month as a result of accidents, and another driver was critically injured. The car clipped the wall coming out of turn one and did a half-spin as it headed to the grass on the inside of the short chute. Art Pollard was killed in an accident du.

The race is held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, located in Speedway, Indiana.
